I was thinking of a Spear Sin too, and I think it would be VIABLE, but a Critical Bow would be better. Only because of the AoE damage Barrage/Volley gives.

I don't know why you would. Spear attack skills are sucky enough with the +damage being often low and the requirements too conditional. You'd probably have to fill your whole bar up with skills to rival Assassin damage output. Not like Assassins wouldn't have huge E-management to cope with that, mind.
I can see good synergies with GftE!, but Malicious Strike rivals it without spreading the attributes too thin. Other than that, I've got nothing.
Scythe and Axe work because of multiple critical hits thus multiple benefits, but I can't see much in a Spear.

IDK TBH I think a sin could do a build with para skills but the effectiveness is less then what a paragon can do. Now I have a mesmer para build for the fort aspy but I rely on conditions and being able to lengthen them and spread them. With a sin you can not do that. Sure you could shadow step in and have a 10 energy (spear swipe) daze available to you. But beguiling can do that as well. I am going to say it would be average to below average build. I see no synergy with the sin traits

but my sin uses a sword, sun and moon slash and hundred blades, works pretty decent as a crit swordman

Spear attacks in general suck, this is why the only decent paragon PvE build is imbagon

Critspear is nice enough, it's just that people always end up running terrible attack skills (I'm looking at you Barbed). Vicious Attack, Wearying Spear (under AR), Spear of Lightning and Holy Spear do pretty impressive damage.
It's certainly better than any sword/axe build you may have had in mind.
PS: nothing beats the RoJ critwander.

Well , its possible and have a good attack rate but bonus damages are not so great and max dmg isnt great either. Stick to weaps with good crit damage and bonuses like Scythes and Axes. Even Crit Archers Sins do great but spears ..... i dont see it .

Not a big PvP'er - definitely not a big GvG'er - but I'm pretty sure one of the Omegaspike variants used a Dark Apostasy spear sin.

Obviously you'd want to replace Incoming with an elite spear attack or something.
I like to run A/P Wota builds with "find their weakness" to deep wound in a strong blades of steel spike chain, but that's an A/P dagger build.

Stunning Strike Assassin
Find Their Weakness can be replaced with Vicious Attack. We Shall Return can be replaced by whatever. Worked pretty well for me in the Jade Sea on HM.
Silencing Spear head is a must.

And I'm going to assume it uses a +1 +1 Critical Strike's head/rune?

Spearsin is pretty interesting cause it totally changes your role. You're not longer dealing spike damage or heavy pressure damage, you're interchanging attack for durability.
One of my favorite builds is Dark Apostasy which I use in RA. With your high critical rate you can keep the opposing team disenchanted while dealing decent pressure damage.

RadaArashi, "interchanging attack for durability" was the idea behind a now obsolete hero Assassin Spear build. If you enter the phrase "zenmai spear" into Google the top entry is the clever writeup. Sadly, the build is now obsolete because Way of the Assassin is now limited to daggers only.

11+1+1.
If you take Vicious Attack over Find Their Weakness you can drop Command attribute, and go 12+1 and take a +10 health rune instead.

Helps when you're trying to interrupt non spell skills, Troll Unguent, or Ritualist Binding Rituals for example. Sure you have You Move Like a Dwarf but it's used, aswell as Find Their Weakness, more as a snare and primer condition for Spear of Fury and Stunning Strike.

Yeah sadly its one of the very very few ways you can make an assassin hero actually usable.
I wouldn't say the concept obsolete, perhaps it isn't top tier like scythe or DB/MS, it's pretty effective in low end PvP (the only area of PvP the assassin sees play anyways) and its fun to vanquish with it.

I use a spear assassin as a hex/condition generator for my discord necros:
Owlj4tjapSLi6P1gvl2kLQBZAZA
The purpose of the build is not to cause primary damage, but to have a non-stop hex and condition engine, with cover hexes and conditions. Having a shield also helps. Staying off the front line also relieves monk pressure as a nice side-effect. For those that prefer a bow, they can easily adapt this build (I am sure there is nothing original about it) to their tastes.
I started running this build because I think the necro heroes work better if their targets are called for them. It's rather boring and simple to use.
